Ballathie is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and civil partnerships ceremonies. The Ceremony can take place in either the Riverside Gardens or in our Drawing room. For comfort, we restrict the numbers for an in-house ceremony to 90. Ceremonies can be conducted by a Registrar (non religious) or a religious ceremony can be held by a Church Minister.
Staying the night before the ceremony, allows you to prepare at leisure, with your family and attendants, before being escorted down the sweeping staircase. The Drawing Room is a beautifully light intimate room, with stunning views of the River. Take a moment to compose yourself before you glide down the central aisle towards your loved one, passing by your friends and family, who have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.
Alternatively, if the Scottish weather is kind, you can conduct your wedding ceremony outside in our stunning grounds. Gail, our Deputy Manager will be very happy to discuss the options that are available to you.
Our local church is the delightful Church of Scotland Church at Kinclaven, just 5 minutes away from the hotel. If you would prefer to exchange your vows in a church, there is not one more charming than Kinclaven. Albeit a little country church, it can hold ceremonies for up to 200 guests.
On a somewhat grander scale – you might want to consider a Cathedral in the heart of Highland Perthshire – Dunkeld Cathedral is only a short drive from Ballathie – 13 miles away.
For more details with regard to civil wedding ceremonies, please make contact with Perth Registrars.
It is not necessary to be resident in Scotland to register a civil partnership here, although people from outwith the European Economic Area (the EU plus Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein) and Switzerland need to obtain permission from the UK immigration authorities to visit to register a civil partnership. – See more here.
